Health effects of inhaling lawn mower smoke?

I was mowing the lawn and suddenly thick white smoke started to come out of the side of it. I inhaled a few breaths of it before I could get away to fresh air, and It smelled really horrible. I am wondering if this short term exposure can have any long lasting effects on my health? I am worried that I possibly inhaled carbon monoxide or something.
