My nikon coolpix s3000 flash isn't working...?

i've had this camera since christmas last year. the flash has been working fine. but for some reason, starting about a month or two ago, every time i try to turn the flash on it says "flash mode" but it doesnt work for some reason. the picture turns out really dark and blurry. what should i do about this?
