Question in regards to raising a teen that is getting on my last nerve..?

Sounds to me like he needs attention. Stick it out, try reasoning with him and show him your not trying to be his boss your trying to get him to do the right things. If all else fails I would send him back to your parents house, or to a boys home. They'll straighten him up there.
