Back taxes owed before married... please help?

I currently owe 10K+ for back taxes back to 1997 before I was married to my current spouse. Does anyone know if we file jointly together this year (I understand there will be no refund) if she would be then liable for the taxes I owe before we were married? Meaning if for some reason there was a levy they would be able to come after her wages as well?
