Teeth whitening?

has anyone tried that teeth whitening thing? you can get it from argos. you bite it and switch it on and the light is supposed to whitn your teeth? just wondering if it actually works or not and if there is a chance it can give you mouth cancer? i'm greatful for any help as i am thinking about purchasing one of these
